Tim Buhrt, Psy.D.
Executive Director

 

Dr. Tim Buhrt has been involved in clinical practice since 1990 and is the Executive Director of Centennial Counseling Center.  He received his Doctor of Psychology degree from Rosemead School of Psychology in La Mirada, California, where he obtained specialized training in individual psychotherapy and psychological assessment.  Previously, Dr. Buhrt completed his Master of Arts from Wheaton College with a clinical focus in marriage and family therapy.  He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has a wide range of clinical training and experience that enables him to work with children, adolescents, and adults.

Dr. Buhrt’s areas of clinical interest include working with persons who struggle with depression, anxiety, relational conflict, grief and loss, and previous traumatic experiences.  In addition, Dr. Buhrt specializes in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of ADHD and has developed clinical and educational programs to assist school officials, parents, and persons with ADHD in managing this syndrome. 

Dr. Buhrt also engages in psychological evaluations to assist others in understanding the cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral factors that contribute to difficulties in their life.  He has consulted with school personnel, hospital staff, psychiatrists, and family practice physicians to facilitate appropriate therapeutic care given the setting they are participating in presently.

Dr. Buhrt is passionate about contributing to change in a person’s life through teaching and education.  For the past 20 years, he has provided clinical supervision and training for graduate students who participate in Centennial’s doctoral practicum training program.  As an adjunct professor at Wheaton College Graduate School, he works with students in the Marriage and Family Therapy program to enhance their skills in diagnostic assessment and mental health treatment.  He also enjoys the opportunity to speak to school, church, and community groups on a variety of mental health issues.

He works out of the St. Charles office.
