Laurie Cox, Ph.D., LCPC

Laurie Cox is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Art Therapist, and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She holds a Ph.D. in Health Psychology and dual Masters' degrees in Art Therapy and Psychology.

With 20 years of clinical experience, she has worked as a Counselor and Art Therapist in a variety of settings including a cancer center, partial hospitalization and inpatient behavioral health units, an agency serving children and adolescents with sexual abuse and sexually problematic behaviors, an addictions treatment center, and private practice specializing in sexual offending, anxiety, trauma and abuse.

Laurie's specialty areas are anxiety, phobias, trauma, sexual abuse, grief and loss, addiction relapse prevention, stress and coping, and alternative approaches to health, well-being and life-style balancing.

Her doctoral research was on treatment adherence for young-adult cancer patients, and her Master's thesis focused on how therapists make sense of recovered and false memories. in addition to her clinical work, Laurie is an educator, photographer, and licensed marriage therapist.

Laurie works out of the Yorkville office.
