Jessica Brown-McBroom is a licensed clinical professional counselor who is passionate about providing quality individual and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults using a positive strength-based approach. Jessica is a strong believer in laughter and lightheartedness as an essential part of her work with children, and families.
Jessica is very passionate about providing education to parents, teachers, and other practitioners on the nature and treatment of childhood and adult AD/HD. Jessica carries her own personal story of struggle and success in her presentations as a way to provide encouragement for families in the midst of their own struggles with the disorder.
Jessica received her bachelors in Psychology from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. She returned three years later to pursue her master’s degree in clinical psychology. In addition, Jessica is certified in domestic violence counseling and in PREPARE-ENRICH pre-marital counseling.
Jessica interned and later worked for Family Counseling Service of Aurora where she facilitated domestic violence groups and worked therapeutically with children, adolescents, and adults. Jessica also worked for several years at Tri-City Family Services in Geneva, Illinois, where she provided crisis intervention work and intensive follow-up services for children and families in the midst of crisis.
Areas of interest include the treatment associated with the management of spectrum disorders such as AD/HD, autism, and Asperger’s disorder, life transition issues, divorce recovery, grief and loss issues, women’s issues, attachment disorders, anxiety and depression, issues related to children and parenting, work with survivors of trauma, and anger-management for children, teens, and adults. Jessica believes strongly in utilizing supports already present in the community; she is experienced at working together with schools, the judicial system, and other health care professionals to assist children and families in recovering from trauma.
Jessica works out of the St. Charles Office.
