Tim Buhrt, Psy.D.

 

Dr. Buhrt has been involved in clinical practice since 1990, and is the Director of the Sandwich office of Centennial Counseling.  Dr. Buhrt received his Doctor of Psychology degree from Rosemead School of Psychology in La Mirada, California, where he obtained specialized training in the provision of individual psychotherapy and psychological assessment. He received his Master of Arts from Wheaton College with a clinical focus in marriage and family therapy. He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with membership in the American Psychological Association.

 

Dr. Buhrt has a wide range of clinical training and experience that enables him to work with children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Buhrt's areas of special interest include working with persons who struggle with depression, anxiety, marital conflict, relational loss, and previous traumatic experiences. In addition, Dr. Buhrt specializes in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of ADHD.  He has developed clinical and educational programs to assist school officials, parents and persons with ADHD in managing the syndrome.

 

Education is another important way in which Dr. Buhrt assists others in growth and development. He is an Adjunct Professor at Judson College, teaching undergraduate classes in Psychological Tests & Measurements and in Life Span Development. Dr. Buhrt also provides clinical training and supervision for doctoral level students from Wheaton College. In addition, Dr. Buhrt enjoys the opportunity to speak to school, community and church groups on a variety of mental health issues.
