Dr. Buhrt has been involved in clinical practice since 1990, and is the Executive Director of Centennial Counseling Center. He received his Doctor of Psychology degree from Rosemead School of Psychology in La Mirada, California, where he obtained specialized training in individual psychotherapy and psychological assessment. Previously Dr. Buhrt had completed his Master of Arts from Wheaton College with a clinical focus in marriage and family therapy. He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has a wide range of clinical training and experience that enables him to work with children, adolescents, and adults.
Dr. Buhrt's areas of special clinical interest include working with persons who struggle with depression, anxiety, relational conflict, grief and loss, and previous traumatic experiences. In addition, Dr. Buhrt specializes in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of ADHD and has developed clinical and educational programs to assist school officials, parents and persons with ADHD in managing the syndrome. Dr Buhrt also provides Specialized Psychological Evaluations for students struggling with social, emotional, and relational difficulties who attend school in DeKalb, LaSalle, and Kendall Counties.
Additionally Dr Buhrt provides clinical training and supervision for graduate students who participate in Centennial's doctoral training program. He also enjoys the opportunity to speak to school, church, and community groups on a variety of metal health issues.
